Toy EN71 certification introduction
EN71 is the standard for toy products in the EU market. Many countries have established their own safety regulations on these products, and production companies must ensure that their products meet relevant standards before being sold in the region. Manufacturers must be responsible for accidents caused by production defects, poor designs or the use of inappropriate materials. Therefore, the EN71 certification law for toys was introduced in Europe, which is to regulate toy products entering the European market through the EN71 standard, thereby reducing or avoiding the harm of toys to children.
EN71 certification test scope
This Toy Directive applies to any product or material designed for or intended for play for children under the age of 14. Mechanical and physical properties; combustion properties; transfer of certain elements; chemical-related experimental devices; non-experimental chemical toys; illustrations of age warning marks; finger drawing pigments: colorants, preservatives, migration of specific elements, primary aromatic amines, olfactory and taste tests, pH value, product information including agents, additives, wetting agents, and surfactants; organic chemical compounds: flame retardant, sweat-resistant color fastness, colorants, primary aromatic amines, monomer migration, solvent migration, solvent inhalation, wood preservatives, non-wood preservatives, plasticizers, toxicity assessment, pH value, formaldehyde. In addition, for electric toys, it includes battery-driven toys and toys with AC/DC conversion power supply. In addition to the EN71 test for the general standard of toys, electromagnetic compatibility tests are also carried out, involving: EMI (electromagnetic radiation) and EMS (electromagnetic immunity).
