With the development of trade, buyers and consumers' requirements for product safety and quality continue to increase. The Malaysian government stipulates that if the products are shipped to Malaysia regularly, suppliers must apply for product certification. In 1998, Malaysia promulgated the new Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which set detailed regulations on the access conditions for Malaysia's telecommunications services and communication markets.
At the same time, a new telecommunications control agency, the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (CMC), was also born.
According to the Communications and Multimedia Law, communication equipment is launched on the market and needs to apply to the CMC or the certification agency designated by the CMC to conduct type certification, and obtain equipment certification certificates and certification marks.
Communication Equipment Testing Section (CETS) under the jurisdiction of SIRIM is responsible for specific certification matters.
SIRIM is the only certification management agency in Malaysia. Electronic products entering Malaysia need to apply for SIRIM certification certificate. In principle, the applicant should be a local institution in Malaysia. The application and management of SIRIM certification is specifically responsible for SIRIM QAS International, and the agency issues SIRIM certificates.
1. What is covered by certification
Electrical safety;
Electromagnetic compatibility, frequency is below 30kHz, between 26kHz and 1300 MHz, above 1000 MHz;
The synergy of telecommunications networks, including public switching networks, cellular telephone networks, data communication networks, and communication software;
Wireless communication, frequency is below 30kHz, between 26kHz and 1300 MHz, above 1000 MHz;
optical communication;
Cables and accessories.
2. Certified content
Type certification contents include situation report evaluation, laboratory test, on-site test, if the equipment is only used for exhibition and demonstration, etc. You can apply to the Communications and Multimedia Committee CMC, and obtain a special certification through the evaluation of written reports.
Recently, SIRIM has revised some of the terms in its certification process, with the main modifications as follows:
1. The SIRIM certificate must now be reviewed once a year and is valid for up to 5 years;
2. Corresponding to Article 1, the submission of the test report is now only accepted for the test report from a qualified laboratory whose issuance date is not more than five years;
If equipment approved by SIRIM for more than 5 years still needs to be sold in the Malaysian market, it must be returned to the laboratory for testing and submit a SIRIM application again. The original SIRIM certificate will expire and be invalid;
During the application process for SIRIM certification in Malaysia, product testing can be completed through laboratories, or converted to SIRIM accreditation by submitting CB reports and certificates. In this case, it is generally not necessary to submit the sample again, but sometimes SIRIM also requires the customer to send samples to check the consistency of the samples identified and submitted samples on the original report.
3. SIRIM certification mark:
After passing the type certification, the equipment manufacturer can obtain the certification certificate issued by SIRIM and add the SIRIM certification mark to the communication equipment.
Malaysia SIRIM Certification Agency
Inspection and Research Testing is a nationally recognized third-party testing laboratory (CNAS L9589). It can represent Malaysia SIRIM certification for customers (our company can make wireless products, CE or FCC RF reporting). If you need it, please contact us.
