The nature of CE-PED certification
According to the WTO's principle of non-discrimination and national treatment, in order to eliminate trade barriers and ensure the free circulation of products, the technical standards of products will be non-compulsory, but for reasons such as safety, health or environmental protection, governments may formulate compulsory technical regulations for products.
CE-PED is a mandatory regulation promulgated by the member states of the European Community on the safety issues of pressure-bearing equipment when they reach a legal consensus.
For PED certification, product technical standards are not mandatory unless specified by the user. Manufacturers can freely choose any technical standard, including Chinese standards (such as GB150).
However, all pressure-bearing equipment within the scope of CE-PED must mandatorily meet the basic safety requirements stipulated in the directive.
The significance of PED
Replace the original rules of the member states of the European Community with a unified certification scheme, and its requirements for the design, manufacture and compliance review of pressure-bearing equipment apply to all member states of the European Community.
The CE marking is a symbol indicating that it complies with the requirements of relevant directives and is free to enter the European market and be put into use.
The scope of PED certification
CE-PEDThe directive is applicable to the design, manufacturing and qualification assessment of pressure-bearing equipment and complete sets of equipment with a maximum operating pressure PS greater than 0.5 bar .
