Certification introduction
SASO is the abbreviation of the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization in English, namely the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. In fact, many of the SASO standards are established based on safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique projects to the standards based on its own country's civil and industrial voltage, geographical and climate environment, ethnic and religious customs. In order to achieve the purpose of protecting consumers, the SASO standard is not only for products imported from abroad, but also for products produced in Saudi Arabia.
Necessity of SASO certification
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Saudi Arabia and SASO require that all products included in the SASO certification standards have SASO certification certificates when entering Saudi customs. Products without SASO certificates will be rejected by Saudi port customs.
Products are exported to Saudi Arabia. When goods enter customs, SASO certification certificates must be issued. Technical personnel from the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization will inspect the certificates. If the SASO certificate cannot be issued, the product will be denied entry or sampled to the laboratory of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Commerce or the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization for testing. If the test fails, the product will be denied entry, and all costs will be borne by the exporting company.
Certification Form
This method is most suitable for exporters or manufacturers with very few shipments. Before each shipment, you need to apply for pre-loading inspection (PSI) and pre-loading test (PST). If both are qualified, you can obtain a CoC certificate.
2. Product registration (Registration)
This method is suitable for a large number of customers. Its advantage is that although each loading inspection (PSI) is necessary, each batch of goods does not need to be tested before loading (PST). Customers can obtain a registration qualification certificate by submitting a declaration of compliance and providing a test report that complies with the importing country and relevant international or domestic standards, and stating that the product has met the basic requirements and national differences of the importing country, Statement for Registration (SfR).
3. Type Approval Licensing
This method can not only save inspection or testing fees before each shipment, simplify the repeated application procedures, but also ensure delivery time. Therefore, it is favored by some large companies that ship frequently or have a large scale, and focus on quality and reputation. Exporter or manufacturer's products can only obtain the Statement for Licence (SfL) certificate if they fully comply with the mandatory standards of the import and exporting country. The validity period of this certificate is one year. Before expiration, you must submit an updated factory inspection report and pay an annual fee and review it by RLC to renew it. Products that obtain SfL certificates no longer require each batch to be inspected before shipment (PSI), but are reduced to a few sampling times in a year (usually 2-3 times per year, depending on the product condition).
The test is carried out according to the SASO/PAI standard or IEC standard + national differences. The requirements of the SASO/PAI standard must be considered separately. Some terms have great differences. Saudi Arabia's rated voltage is 220V, 50/60Hz (with BS plug) or 127V, 60Hz (with UL plug) (a prototype is required for testing); the Kuwait voltage is 240V, 50Hz (with BS plug).
Type certification requires factory inspection;
For electrical products exported to Saudi Arabia, the rated frequency marked on the product must include 60Hz;
the user manual for air conditioners exported to Saudi Arabia must be in Arabic and English; for audio and video products, the user manual must be in Arabic;
the original safety regulations and EMC reports must be reports issued by the accredited laboratory within 2-3 years.
