WERCSmart Registration

Introduction to WERCSmart

WERCSmart is a supply chain security management system designed and developed by The WERCS company in the United States and for large and medium-sized retailers. It can achieve: unified and effective management of a huge supplier network and products; and conduct security assessments of targets and existing products for easy screening. A retail program specially developed for retailers to quickly and easily obtain accurate compliance and sustainability data. This program provides suppliers with a safe and intuitive way to submit and edit a complete set of critical product and chemical composition data required to communicate a complete set of hazard transmission data, and directly pass the supplier's registered product information to retailers. Such an authoritative audit and appraisal procedure is simpler and more convenient to facilitate cooperation between suppliers and retailers. Suppliers registered with WERCSmart are undoubtedly the ideal purchasing targets for retailers.
The Wercs is a supplier of green supply chain systems and chemical regulatory response software. The software package it provides plays an important role in helping customers manage product information and transmit hazard information.
Currently, retailers that have confirmed cooperation with The Wercs include Wal-Mart, OReily, Costco, Sears/K-Mart, Rite Aid, etc., requiring all their suppliers to register their products on WercSmart.

Why register WERCSmart

Retailers and other participants in the WERCSmart program, selling, transporting, storing or disposing of products, are facing increasingly complex challenges in federal, state and local regulatory compliance. The data contained in the safety data sheets (SDSs) provided with the product does not usually contain sufficient information that complies with these regulations. WERCSmart provides retailers and other participants with the data required to comply with these regulations.
Currently, retailers that cooperate with WERCSmart include Wal-Mart, Amazon, Traget, O'Reilly, Costco, Sears, K-Mart, Rite Aid, etc., requiring all of their suppliers to register their products on WercSmart.

Battery WERCSmart Registration

Battery WERCSmart registration is divided into two modes:
1. Registration of batteries not sold directly to retailers
This battery is only installed on other electronic products, which are sold as independent brands. This battery does not have a UPC/GTIN code and is registered by the battery supplier to the WERCSmart system for other electronic product suppliers to link battery information when registering.
Main information requirements:
MSDS file (including model, capacity, weight, voltage, 100% ingredient list, CAS number, form, color, odor, transportation method, and hazard protection measures of each component, etc.)
2. Registration of batteries sold directly to retailers
This battery has a UPC/GTIN code. If registered with the WERCSmart system, the system will pass the relevant information to the lower-level retailer specified at the time of registration.

WERCSmart registration for electronic products containing batteries

Registration of electronic products containing batteries requires two steps:
1. The battery supplier first registers the battery information to the WERCSmart system and adds the battery supplier's name to the WERCS battery supplier list (if there are multiple different battery suppliers, they must register independently)
2. Electronic Product Supplier Register this electronic product. In the step, you need to select the battery information contained in it. The battery supplier will be found in the list and the battery information will be linked.
From this we can see that the MSDS control for electronic products containing batteries is still aimed at batteries.
Main information requirements:
MSDS file, shipping method, UPC code, packaging method, weight (oz), designated retailer name, retailer contact number and email, qualified supplier ID number (O'Reily, Sears/K-Mart, Wal-Mart/SAM'S CLUB required)

WERCSmart registration for other products

1. Products sold under retailer brand require WERCSmart to edit SDS files
2. In addition to the information contained in ordinary MSDS files, the information should generally be provided in water specific gravity, pH value, boiling point, flash point, personal protective measures (mask, gloves, apron, protective glasses), self-ignition temperature, minimum self-ignition energy (mJ), water-soluble/oil ratio, viscosity coefficient)
3. For OTC and nutritional products, product nameplate (PDF format) is required.
