What is SABS certification in South Africa?
SABS (South frican Bureau of Standards) is the abbreviation of the South African Standards Bureau. It is a mandatory certification from South Africa. As long as the controlled products are produced in South Africa, they must present a SABS certificate. South Africa Standards Agency is a neutral third-party certification body in South Africa, responsible for South Africa's system certification and product certification. In addition to the responsibility of formulating standards, SABS also manages mandatory norms on behalf of the state, grants the right to use marks for products that meet the standards. In addition, it is also responsible for issuing certificates to enterprises that comply with ISO09001 and ISO9002, and is responsible for inspection and testing before loading on behalf of the state and some major purchasers, and issuing certificates of qualification. SABS certification is widely used in chemical products, biological products, fiber products and clothing, mechanical products, safety equipment, electrical products, civil and construction, and automotive products. In recent years, SABS certification has become an important weight for the South African government to control product imports.

SABS certification process
1. The manufacturer fills out the complete application form; 2. If the factory has more than one factory, you need to fill out the application form separately. Each product within the scope of certification is required to be reflected in the application form. In addition, the factory also needs to fill out the application form for the credibility of the person in charge, and the person in charge must ensure the first review fee and other certification fees; 3. After the South African Standards Bureau is accepted, it will issue an audited quotation; 4. On the premise that the quotation is recognized, the South African Standards Bureau will conduct the factory review; 5. If all the above reviews are passed, the South African Standards Bureau will prepare an annual supervision contract; 6. Two auditors will conduct random reviews every year, and the annual supervision review and testing costs will be stated on the contract; 7. The two auditors will take the random inspection samples back to the laboratory; 8. The samples for testing will be tested in the future. The South African Standards Bureau will draw the goods from the buyer of South Africa. If the batch of goods is less than 4 times a year, then insufficient samples will be required to be sent from the factory, and the cost will be borne by the factory; 9. If the test result is unqualified, the cost of the sample and the cost of retest will be borne by the factory; 10. The validity period of the certificate will be three years unless the certificate is cancelled for other reasons.

Notes on SABS certification
1. First of all, the company must designate an agent, and the agent will declare that it is responsible for all data information and after-sales matters. The South African Road Traffic Act (Act93:1996) requires importers to register with the local Ministry of Transport; 2. South Africa is an English country and belongs to the right-hand member state. At the same time, only after successful registration can the test and submit documents to SABS and other work; 3. All test projects should be completed strictly in accordance with relevant South African standards and technical documents such as NRCS reports should be submitted; 4. The entire certification process includes two parts: test report review and sample vehicle consistency inspection; (Note: the inspection of sample vehicle can be arranged in China or South Africa according to the needs of the enterprise) 5. Once all data and sample vehicles have passed the NRCS review and evaluation, the NRCS will issue a certificate. Generally speaking, the entire review process will not exceed 15 working days. 6. Certificate validity date: As long as the applicable standards and regulations are not changed and the vehicle has not been modified, the certificate will continue to be valid; 7. NRCS will be responsible for production consistency control. If the vehicle model is found to be inconsistent, it has the right to recover the certificate. 8. To ensure production consistency, NRCS may conduct factory reviews after a period of time after the application for the certificate.
